"I know, right?"

Typical conversation during the past few months:

Candy: "Gosh, it's really hot outside today."
Other person: "I know, right?"

Can someone please tell me why everyone is saying this now? Where did it come from? And what does it even mean???

Hey now! I always use that "I know, right?". It comes from Mean Girls which is the movie based upon my life.

It's the most ridiculously over used phrase. I wish people could hear how dumb they sound. It makes me wanna throw up...

I cant stand this new saying...just about EVERYONE is saying in the office now...I think I heard it in a Lindsay Lohan movie 5 years ago...to me you might as well be saying "like, oh my gaaawd!"
